Chilled Craft Beer Guide: Choosing and Serving Cold Brews

Welcome to day eleven of The Twelve Boozy Days of Christmas!

Beer may not always be the first thing that comes to mind for holiday drinks, but it deserves a place in seasonal celebrations. Between festive cocktails and rich winter spirits, sometimes a simple cold beer is exactly what you want. Don’t overlook beer lovers when planning your holiday menu—there’s room for both inventive cocktails and an ice-cold brew.

Last night I went to a Devils hockey game and we were soundly beaten by the Red Wings (not my favorite team), so it felt right to unwind with a beer afterward. A straightforward, chilled brew can be refreshing and familiar during busy holiday weeks—no fuss, just enjoyment.

Beer:

Ingredients:
– Your favorite beer
– A cold glass or mug

Instructions:
1. Go to the store and choose a beer you enjoy—stout, ale, lager, amber, or any style you prefer. Each brings a different character to the occasion, so pick what suits your mood. (Mixing different beers together isn’t recommended, with the occasional exception of a Black & Tan if you enjoy that layered combination.)
2. Chill a glass or mug in the freezer or fill it with ice water for a few minutes, then pour the beer into the cold vessel.
3. Serve immediately and savor the crisp, simple pleasure of a well-chilled beer.

A chilled beer is an uncomplicated way to celebrate: quick to prepare, easy to share, and always welcome among friends and family. Whether you pair it with holiday snacks, game-day comforts, or quiet moments by the tree, beer has a place in festive traditions. Cheers!
