Guacamole pairs beautifully with tortilla chips, veggie sticks like carrots and bell peppers, and as a topper for tacos, fajitas, burrito bowls, quesadillas, or grilled chicken. It’s also delicious spread on toast for a simple snack.

Storage

To store, transfer guacamole to an airtight container and chill. It keeps well for 3 to 4 days. Press plastic wrap directly onto the surface before sealing to help reduce browning.

Frequently Asked Questions

What can I use instead of cilantro in guacamole?

If you don’t like cilantro, omit it or try substituting finely chopped green onion.

Does guacamole go bad?

Yes—fresh guacamole typically lasts 3 to 4 days in the refrigerator. Signs it’s spoiled include an off smell or a grayish color that persists throughout.

Can you eat brown guacamole?

A light brown surface from oxidation is still safe to eat if the guacamole is within a few days and smells fine; stir and remove any discolored top if necessary.

Can I freeze guacamole?

Freezing can affect texture. If you choose to freeze, use a freezer-safe container and expect some texture change after thawing.
