Why you’ll love this strawberry yogurt mousse

  • This mousse sets up creamy and airy without gelatin or agar agar.
  • Use Greek yogurt for a higher-protein version.
  • It’s easy to make vegan by swapping in a thick coconut or plant-based yogurt.

  • Made in a food processor or blender — quick and simple.
  • Makes a great meal-prep snack to keep in the fridge for the week.

Let’s make some strawberry mousse!

Ingredients

  • Yogurt: Use a thick yogurt — full-fat Greek yogurt for a creamy, high-protein option, or thick coconut yogurt for a vegan version.
  • Freeze-dried strawberries: Fresh or frozen berries add too much liquid for this recipe unless you use a thickening agent. Freeze-dried strawberries create intense flavor without extra moisture.
  • Maple syrup: Honey or agave can be used instead.
  • Vanilla or strawberry protein powder (optional): Skip if using Greek yogurt since it’s already protein-rich.
  • Vanilla extract to enhance the flavor.
  • Toppings (optional): coconut whipped cream, fresh strawberries, cacao nibs, or chocolate chips.

Equipment

  • Food processor or high-speed blender
  • Jars or bowls for serving
  • Spatula

Steps

  • Add the freeze-dried strawberries to the food processor and pulse until they become a fine powder.
  • Add the yogurt, maple syrup, optional protein powder, vanilla extract, and any milk (if using protein powder) and blend until smooth. Taste and adjust sweetness if needed.
  • Spoon the mousse into jars or bowls and top with coconut whipped cream or your preferred toppings.
  • Chill in the refrigerator for 2–3 hours to firm up, then enjoy.

Topping ideas / How to serve strawberry mousse

  • Serve in small jars or pretty glasses for a cute presentation.
  • Coconut whipped cream is a favorite for a dairy-free, silky topping.
  • Add cacao nibs or chocolate chips for crunch and contrast.
  • Garnish with fresh strawberry slices for color and extra freshness.

FAQ

  • Can the mousse be made vegan? Yes. Use a thick coconut or other plant-based yogurt.
  • Can you make it ahead of time? Absolutely. Prepare the mousse, store it in an airtight container, and chill until ready to eat.
  • How do I store leftovers? Store leftover mousse in the refrigerator for several days in an airtight container. Check texture before serving and stir gently if needed.

Ingredients

Mousse

  • 1 cup Thick yogurt *Greek or coconut yogurt works
  • 1 package freeze-dried strawberries
  • 2 tbsp maple syrup
  • 1/2 scoop vanilla or strawberry protein (optional) *see notes
  • 1-2 tbsp milk, as needed – omit if not using protein powder **See notes
  • 1/2 tsp vanilla extract

Topping ideas

  • Coconut whipped cream
  • Cacao nibs
  • Chocolate chips

Instructions

  • Pulse freeze-dried strawberries in a food processor until they form a fine powder.
  • Add yogurt, maple syrup, vanilla extract, and protein powder (if using). If adding protein, include 1 tablespoon milk to help blend; add a second tablespoon only if needed. Blend until smooth and creamy, then taste and adjust sweetness.
  • Spoon the mousse into serving jars or bowls and top with coconut whipped cream or desired toppings.
  • Chill in the refrigerator for 2–3 hours to set. Serve chilled and enjoy.

Notes

*Protein is optional. If using Greek yogurt, you likely don’t need extra protein. For coconut yogurt, 1/2 scoop of protein adds body and flavor.

**Add milk sparingly when using protein powder. Start with 1 tablespoon, then add more only if the mixture is too thick to blend. The mousse should be thick, smooth, and scoopable.
