This Blueberry Penguin Birthday Party Food Art is a playful way to get kids excited about healthy snacks. Ideal for winter gatherings, zoo-themed parties, or holiday celebrations, this project doubles as a craft and a nutritious treat. Children enjoy “playing” with their food and are often more willing to try fruits when they help prepare them.

This penguin food art is sponsored by Naturipe®.
When kids take part in the kitchen, they are more likely to taste and enjoy fruits and vegetables. Blueberries are a favorite for many small hands, and arranging them into a cute penguin gives children a reason to sample what they helped create. After finishing their penguin, kids are proud to share—and eat—the result.
How to Make Frozen Yogurt Blueberries

Frozen yogurt-covered blueberries make a delightful detail for the penguin. Prepare these first so they have time to firm up in the freezer. Toss washed, completely dried blueberries in plain or vanilla yogurt, then spread them in a single layer on a parchment-lined baking sheet. Freeze for about 45 minutes to an hour until firm. Use them as eyes, extra decoration, or even the penguin’s belly.
Ingredients for Creating a Blueberry Penguin

- Blueberries (we used Naturipe®)
- Yogurt (plain or vanilla; oatmeal or porridge can be substituted)
- Mango
- Optional: fruit leather or strips for extra details
How to Make Penguin Birthday Party Food Art

Begin by cutting the mango into flat slices or a plank—no peeling required. Cookie cutters make shaping easy, but a knife works fine too. Use a flower-shaped cutter for the feet and slice each shape in half. A heart cutter trimmed in half makes a perfect beak.

Spoon yogurt onto a plate or shallow bowl and use the bottom of the spoon to spread it into an oval to form the penguin’s belly.

Place blueberries around the yogurt belly to build the penguin’s body. Arrange them closely to create a rounded shape, then add yogurt dollops or frozen yogurt blueberries for the eyes. Position the mango halves for the beak and feet.

For extra detail, cut a thin strip of fruit leather or a skinny mango slice and place it across the top of the penguin’s head or near the eyes. This step is optional but adds character to the design.

Finish by arranging any remaining blueberries around the penguin on the plate for a polished presentation.
