Boost Revives Pump Franchise in Reebok x adidas Collaboration

Fourteen years after adidas acquired Reebok, the two brands finally unite their signature technologies in a single silhouette: the Reebok Instapump Fury Boost. What began as speculation about a potential merging of Reebok’s upper-centric Pump system with adidas’ Boost cushioning has now become reality with this hybrid update to the 1994 Instapump Fury.

The collaboration is a natural fit. The Instapump Fury’s defining feature is its customizable fit—an air-based Pump system engineered to lock the foot into place—while Boost provides responsive underfoot cushioning and long-lasting comfort. Together they address both upper fit and midsole performance, creating a balanced, modernized version of a classic design.

The initial launch is presented as the “OG Meets OG” Pack, which draws from classic colorways of both the Ultra Boost and the Pump Fury while pairing the Pump upper with a Boost-infused sole. This approach highlights the heritage of each technology while offering a fresh hybrid aesthetic.

Notably, the original Pump Fury was designed 25 years ago by Steven Smith, who worked at Reebok at the time and now contributes to Kanye West and adidas’ YEEZY team. Smith acknowledged the synergy between the two systems: “Instapump Fury Boost™ is exactly something we would have tried back in 1994 if we had the technology. We were always experimenting to find the best cushioning system possible. It is great to build a hybrid of the best of both brands’ technologies.”

The Instapump Fury Boost will arrive in three distinct packs that reference Pump and Boost DNA. Following that, the “OG Meets OG” and a “Black & White” Pack will be released during the Fall/Winter season.

These three offerings provide options for collectors and fans: an exclusive prototype run for rare enthusiasts, a heritage-driven “OG Meets OG” colorway that nods to both brands’ legacies, and a minimalist black-and-white version for a cleaner aesthetic. Photographs from the Prototype pair highlight the fusion of Pump hardware with a Boost midsole and illustrate how the technologies integrate visually and functionally.

The Instapump Fury Boost represents a thoughtful collaboration that honors both brands’ histories while leveraging modern materials and engineering. By combining a Pump upper with Boost cushioning, the silhouette aims to deliver a distinctive experience—secure fit up top with energetic, cushioned responsiveness beneath.
