Chocolate Dirt Pudding Cups: Clean-Ingredient Dessert Recipe

These secretly healthy chocolate dirt pudding cups will take you straight back to childhood!

If you grew up in the 90s, this kid-friendly treat will likely bring back fond memories. A thick layer of creamy chocolate pudding is topped with chocolatey crumbles to resemble cups of dirt — a playful classic that’s always a hit. There’s no actual dirt here, just rich chocolate and crunchy bits that recreate that nostalgic look and flavor.

At birthday parties, the crumbles could be cookies, brownies, or Oreos, and sometimes gummy worms were added for fun. If you want to keep these pudding cups vegan, use gelatin-free gummy worms or skip them altogether.

For this version I used fresh mint and a touch of peppermint extract to create a slightly grown-up twist on the original. If you prefer plain chocolate pudding, omit the peppermint. For the “dirt” topping I chose a raw crumble made from walnuts and dates, but you can substitute crumbled brownies, cookies, or store-bought vegan cookies if you prefer.
